Who We Are

Keyboard Enthusiasts Who Test Before They Write

MechKeyReview was founded by a group of mechanical keyboard enthusiasts who were frustrated with review sites that never actually used the products they covered. Every keyboard, switch, and keycap set featured on this site has been tested hands-on — no spec-sheet reviews, ever.

Our focus is simple: give you the information you need to make the right choice, whether you're buying your first mechanical keyboard or building a custom endgame.

Our Mission

To be the most honest and practical resource for mechanical keyboard buyers and enthusiasts. We believe good information shouldn't be buried behind affiliate bias or paywalled behind brand relationships.

We cover everything from entry-level budget boards to high-end custom builds, always with the same editorial standard: test it, understand it, explain it clearly.

How We Test

Our review and testing process follows a consistent methodology across all products:

Minimum 2 Weeks of Daily Use

Every keyboard goes through at least two weeks of real-world use — coding, writing, gaming — before we publish any conclusions. We don't rush reviews to be first; we take the time to be accurate.

Sound & Feel Testing

We record typing sound profiles under consistent conditions: same room, same microphone placement, same recording chain. Subjective feel is described using a standardized vocabulary so comparisons between reviews are meaningful.

Switch Measurements

Actuation force, travel distance, and tactile bump position are measured using a force gauge. We cross-reference manufacturer specs against real measurements and flag discrepancies.

Long-Term Follow-Up

We revisit products after 6–12 months of use to check for quality-of-life changes: spring fatigue, coating wear, stabilizer degradation. If our opinion changes, we update the review.

Editorial Independence

MechKeyReview operates with full editorial independence. We purchase most products ourselves. When a brand provides a review unit, it is clearly disclosed in the article — and it does not affect our rating or conclusions.

Some articles contain Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through one of our links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This revenue helps keep the site running, but it never influences what we recommend or how we rate products.

The Team

We are a small team of enthusiasts with backgrounds in product engineering, typography, and software development — all of which inform how we evaluate keyboards.
