Who We Are

An Independent Mechanical Keyboard Site, Run by One Enthusiast

MechKeyReview is run by Jota Martínez, a programmer who has been typing every day since the age of 8 and, more than 25 years later, still loves it: code, news, guides and reviews. The site exists to answer the questions buyers actually have: which size, which switches, which board is worth the money, and what to skip.

We publish two kinds of content and always say which one you are reading: hands-on reviews of keyboards we own and use, and research-based guides that compile specs, independent reviews and community experience into a clear recommendation.

Our Mission

To be an honest and practical resource for mechanical keyboard buyers in five languages. Many buyers outside the US struggle to find guidance that covers local layouts (QWERTZ, AZERTY, Spanish ISO with Ñ, Italian) and local stores, and we want to fill that gap.

We cover entry-level budget boards, popular enthusiast keyboards and the basics of modding, always with the same standard: be accurate, show where the information comes from and explain it clearly.

How We Review and Research

Every article falls into one of these formats, and the label at the top of each review tells you which one it is:

Hands-On Reviews

Only for keyboards we have physically used as daily drivers for coding, writing and gaming. These reviews include our own photos and typing sound clips, and the verdict is based on that real use.

Research-Based Guides

For products we have not had in hand. We compile manufacturer specifications, independent video and written reviews (credited and linked) and long-term owner feedback from the community. We never claim to have tested these products ourselves.

Specs Cross-Checked

Size, layout, switch options, connectivity and battery figures are checked against the manufacturer's official pages before publishing, and discrepancies between sources are pointed out in the article.

Updates and Corrections

Buying guides are reviewed when new models launch or prices change, and every update is reflected in the "last updated" date. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it.

Editorial Independence

No brand pays for coverage or approves an article before it is published. Some hands-on review units are provided by brands as part of a collaboration (for example with Keychron); when that happens it is clearly disclosed in the review, and it never changes the verdict.

Some articles contain Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through one of them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This revenue keeps the site running, but it never decides which products we recommend.

Research & Editorial Process

Guides combine manufacturer specifications, independent reviews (credited and linked) and long-term feedback from the community. Like most publishers today, we use digital and AI-assisted tools in our editorial workflow; every article is fact-checked, edited and approved by Jota before it goes live.
